  • RIGHT TRACK SPRING INTERNSHIPS!  Students who applied for a spring Right Track internship should be receiving emails to set up an interview with Right Track!  Please be on the look out for those emails.  The sooner you make your interview appointment the more likely you will get a time you want!

    EARN AS YOU LEARN- This program provides SPPS high school students the opportunity to earn a $300 stipend to learn financial literacy skills, earn a certificate and/or credential to show work readiness.  Certificates include: Microsoft (Word, PowerPoint, and/or Excel), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), CPR/First Aid/AED, Customer Sales and Service, and more!

    The commitment of time is around 30 to 50 hours.

    ATTENTION JUNIORS AND SENIORS NEEDING CLASSES IN YOUR SCHEDULE!! Why not get some free college credit and try out a potential career?
    You can take classes at the District Career Pathways Program!  Here is a sampling of courses:

    Intro to Criminal Justice-FILLED, TRY FOR 2023-24 SCHOOL YEAR
    Intro to Business

    To register,  fill out this form.  Here's the slide deck with student info that also includes the form at the end.   You can register for one class now,  but you'll have to speak to your counselor about what to do on your off days.
    The slide deck says what classes are on what days.  They are either Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday.  They do still want you to go to the pathways center on Fridays.

    ROOTED IN STEM program at the University of Minnesota might be just the thing for an 11th or 10th grade student who knows that they are interested in a career in science, technology, engineering , or mathematics and they want to attend the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.  The program happens one Saturday a month.  Completing the program can give you access to U of M summer programing and the possibility of a 40,000 3M scholarship.  Learn more about the program here.  The deadline for applying (you also need a letter of recommendation) is Sunday, Dec. 4th.  


    CONSTRUCT TOMORROW FIELD TRIP If you are curious about a career in the building or construction trades you should attend the Construct Tomorrow field trip on Wednesday, Dec. 7 (B Day).  You will miss your third and fourth hours on that day but return to Johnson around 2:30.  Students will learn about different trades through hands-on activities.  Come see Ms. Voigt in room 1119 if you would like a field trip permission form.  Space is limited, get your form in soon!
