Wanna get college credit while in high school?  Wanna chance to get EMT certified, learn construction blueprints, or learn about juvenile justice? You can take free classes at the District Career Pathways Center and get college credit while in high school. Check out this  amazing list of classes you could sign up for, here is even more descriptions, if you need it!  They are during the school day and free!  You can take buses to them for free!  Many of them include a paid internship!  You must be in a DCPC class to be eligible for the internship.  Find out more with Susan on Nov. 28th!  Click here to get a Govie Hour Pass or make a smart pass to room 2101A.

9th GRADERS INTERESTED IN THEATER OR FASHION- apply to be part of the Inspire MSP Fashion Show.  There are seven roles you can play (Staging and lights, make-up and hair, red carpet experience, social media and photography, music, Event Co-host, designer).  To apply, read the info on this website, make a video introducing yourself, explaining what role you want and why and what you will get from this experience, and fill in the form and the parent permission form.  Applications are due by Dec. 15th. NINTH GRADE ONLY.

LOVE SPORTS AND WANT TO BE PAID TO BE A PART OF IT? Saint Paul Parks and Rec needs umpires/refs for youth sports.  Check out this link to learn more. They also need scorekeepers!  Must be 16+ for refs and umpires, but only 14+ for scorekeepers. 

CLUES CAREER PATHWAYS: The Best Buy Teen Tech Center at CLUES (7th and Arcade) has three awesome opportunities!  You can learn Film Making, Get some help on Resumes and Networking, or work in Project Invent (coding, designing, marketing).  See this form to apply.  

EARN AS YOU LEARN- This program provides SPPS high school students the opportunity to earn a $300 stipend to learn financial literacy skills, earn a certificate and/or credential to show work readiness.  Certificates include: Microsoft (Word, PowerPoint, and/or Excel), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), CPR/First Aid/AED, Customer Sales and Service, and more!

The commitment of time is around 30 to 50 hours.

Tree Trust is inviting you, your colleagues, students, and clients to our our Tree Trust Winter Career Fair on Wednesday, December 6^th at Arlington Hills Community Center located in St. Paul. Location here: Arlington Hills Community Center - Google Maps. Did you know some of the most critical tree care happens in the winter?

Pop in any time from Noon until 6 pm! School and after-school groups are welcome and free parking for vans and busses is available at the Arlington Hills Community Center.  

• Check out the Big Ideas Lab Semi Truck, providing hands-on and virtual reality skilled trade experiences in welding, painting, and other skilled trades!
• Experience the new woodED lab, Big Ideas 3D projection simulator!  This Hands-on virtual carpentry program running four different saws is the second one in the United States and the only one available for public use!
• Apply for our Winter Branches Program for those aged 18 – 28 interested in learning tree care and landscaping construction and learn about all of our programming for ages 14 - 28
• Hot food provided by Brasa Premium Rotisserie
• Gourmet hot chocolate bar with all the fixings
• Network with other area professionals

Field Trips

If you are interested in the trades, stop by and see me for a permission slip to Construct Tomorrow on Dec. 6.  We will leave around 845 and return around 11.
