Welcome to Mays, home of the Bulldogs!
Welcome to Benjamin E. Mays IB World School. We are excited you have chosen to attend Mays.
We will start the school year in a Distance Learning environment. Teachers and staff at Mays continue to prepare and plan new ways to engage our students in an online setting. Consult the district Reopen Plan for information on the plan to move students to in-person learning. When looking at the plan, Mays falls into stage 2 (ASD and grades PreK-2) and stage 3 (grades 3-5).
Please follow the links in the sidebar to visit your grade. There you will find information on teachers and curriculum. In the PreK and Kindergarten sections you will also find resources to help in the important transition into school.
Across all grades during the 2020-2021 school year, we will be focused on Student Voice, which is:
- including the opinions, beliefs, perspectives, and cultural backgrounds of students to increase their sense of agency and ownership.
- engaging students in learning experiences that encourage class discussion and academic discourse.
- supporting students in becoming more independent learners through productive struggle and an increased sense of self-efficacy.
Our school-wide approach to Student Voice includes our commitment to Restorative Practices, inquiry-based learning (IB), increased opportunities for students to explain and justify their thinking, and culturally responsive instruction grounded in relevance, relationships, and rigor.
Welcome to Benjamin E. Mays IB World School!
Clever is an important tool that streamlines the log in experience for the apps we use at Mays. Clever is installed on all student iPads, look for the blue button with the white “C.” Students log in from the iPad app with their active directory which is their student number (s######) and password. Inside the Clever portal, students can tap on different apps and are automatically logged into their account. Isn’t that clever?
Students in PreK-2 will need to log in to Seesaw through Clever for classwork, assessments and to locate other apps such as ST Math. Students in grades 3-5 complete classwork in Schoology and need to log in to Clever for assessments, ST Math and other apps. For help with Clever, contact your teacher.
