Visual Arts

My name is Lindsay Walker and I am entering my third year teaching visual arts at Benjamin E. Mays IB World School. I hold a Minnesota K-12 licence in teaching Art, BA in Art and M.Ed in Art Education through the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. In my own studio practice, I enjoy making functional pottery and relief prints though I spent a lot of time this summer reconnecting with drawing, pushing myself to draw every day (mostly sketches of my bulldog, Weezer).

I am excited for a new year working with each K-5 artist in our community and further discovering their individual unique and distinctive qualities through their studio practice. We will paint. We will draw. We will sculpt, cut, glue, animate, analyze and take our work as far as our materials and imaginations can take us!

As we begin this new year, I look forward to partnering with you in your child's arts education. Please know that you are welcome to contact with me with any questions, concerns, or ideas and that our art studio door is always open. My email address is and you can reach me directly in the art room at 651.325.2700. I will also be posting updates and student work on our Mays Arts Twitter account! Please keep an eye on this page and follow the Arts at Mays to see what's happening in our space and in our arts community as we get going this year.

I am currently serving as the secretary for our Benjamin E. Mays PTA and it has been so great to connect with and get to know families better through our meetings. If you are at all interested in attending a meeting and/or joining our PTA, please don't hesitate! Let me know if you have questions. We'd love to have you!

Thank you for everything you do to support the Arts at Mays! I look forward to a super creative and exciting year with you and your child!
    See you soon!
