Our school feels like a small learning community, yet with all the opportunities available in a large urban school. Partnerships with local universities and community organizations, such as the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra CONNECT Program, enable us to offer many rich educational experiences. Learn more...
Welcome to Groveland Park Elementary!
We are so glad you are here and we would like to you to invite you to our virtual tours and open house happening in January and February. Current parents, teachers and Principal Lightner will give an overview of the great things Groveland has to offer and share what it means to be a part of our learning community. You can sign up here.
Our staff made introductory videos in the fall to welcome students back to Groveland. They are fun way to get to know staff.
Please contact Ms. Lightner at sarah.lightner@spps.org if you have any questions.
We look forward to meeting you!
Groveland is one of seven Saint Paul schools to enjoy the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra (SPCO) CONNECT program for grades 1-5. Click into the title to find more information about the SPCO Concerts for your family.
The Groveland Park Elementary PTO consists of parents, staff, and community members who work collaboratively to support the school. The purpose of the PTO is to build a strong community that fosters the most optimal educational environment possible.
The fine arts are important at Groveland! Each grade level enjoys a different art enrichment during the school year. Some examples this year will include the MacPhail Center for Music for PreK, ArtiCulture for grade K, COMPAS Artist Shakun Mehashwari for grades 1-2, Musician Ross Sutter for grade 3, a COMPAS Residency for grade 4 and Northern Clay and African Drumming with Brother Ghana for grade 5. Minnesota art standards are incorporated into the experiences. Each of the art experiences have been made possible through the genrousity of the Groveland community. The PTO has worked to provide each grade level with special opportunities.
Ms. Lightner brings a wealth of experience in helping all students feel represented and accepted for who they are. She has served as a school social worker and Dean of Students at Valley View Elementary School in Bloomington Public Schools, and most recently, as assistant principal for Battle Creek Elementary School.
