The fine arts are important at Groveland! Each grade level enjoys a different art enrichment at some point during the school year. PreK has a music residency through the MacPhail Center for Music; kindergarten will focus on community through Articulture; grades 1-2 will work with COMPAS Artist Shakun Mehashwari; grade 3 will welcome back Ross Sutter to incorporate art and music while grade 4 looks forward to a residency artist through COMPAS. Grade 5 students went to Camp Wijiwagen in Ely, MN and learned about the environment while enjoying the great outdoors. They will work with Northern Clay to create pottery and learn about African Drumming with Brother Ghana. Minnesota art standards are incorporated into the experiences. Each of these art experiences have been made possible through the genrousity of the Groveland community. The PTO has worked hard to provide each class with these special opportunities.
The Groveland Park Elementary PTO consists of parents, staff, and community members who work collaboratively to support the students, families, and staff of the school. The purpose of the PTO is to build a strong community that fosters the most optimal educational environment possible at Groveland Park Elementary.
