Saint Paul Public Schools Library Services empowers students and staff to become enthusiastic readers, critical thinkers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information.
LIBRARY MEDIA SPECIALIST CLASS
The Horace Mann Library is an exciting space where students come to learn and read. Students at Horace Mann visit the library every week. Our library has over 15,000 books and serves about 500 students and staff.
For the 22-23 school year, students will be attending a library media specialist class. In addition to checking out books, exploring new titles, and discovering a love for reading, students will also learn about digital citizenship, online safety, educational technology, and much more! Our classes will explore theater, information literacy, and movie making. We will have a "Makerspace" where students will have the opportunity to explore their own interests, problem solve, and develop creative projects. Examples of makerspace activities include: coding, building robots, and working with a 3-D printer.
LIBRARY BOOK CIRCULATION POLICY
Students may check out 1-4 library books each week, depending on their grade level. Books may be kept for up to two weeks without being overdue, but students must return their currently checked out library books before they are able to check out more books.
Please help your student remember to return their library books on time, so they may check out a new book each week.
If a student finishes their book before their next library day, they may return their book during their class visit for specialist rotation.
Overdue notices are given to classroom teachers to be sent home with students.
Your questions and concerns about the Horace Mann Library are always welcome.
