Hello BCMS Students, Parents/Guardians and Friends!
Welcome to another wonderful year at Battle Creek Middle School!
I am grateful to be here and working with the 'polite, punctual and prepared' Panthers!
It is here that I am suppose to tell you a little bit about me.
My name is Deidre Druk. I am excited to be at Battle Creek Middle School this year! I will be teaching Choir, Percussion and Piano classes for 6/7/8 students. I am a graduate of Macalester College in St. Paul where I earned a B.A. in Music and Education Certification. My main instrument is voice. I play piano and guitar. I have a Masters Degree from the Liberal Arts Department at Hamline University where I wrote a synthesis focused on 'Individual & Society' in creative writing: music, lyrics and prose.
In college I studied classical voice, but have performed many styles of music. I have performed with Top 40 Rock Bands and traveled around the country. I sing classical and religious music with the choir at my church and sing and play guitar with other acoustic musicians for worship services. I have studied acting here in the Twin Cities and in Chicago and have performed Shakespeare (Puck in Midsummer Night's Dream; and in As You Like it), contemporary and liturgical dramas. When I have time, I continue to study guitar and write music that I sing and play.
We have GREAT students at BCMS who are building skills for a successful future! Here is to an inspiring and fun year of learning!
Respectfully,
Ms. Druk
