At John A. Johnson Achievement Plus Elementary (JAJ) we are a collaborative community committed to the academic success of all scholars. As an “Achievement Plus” school: education, recreation, wellness and other services are all inside our school for convenience with the goal of eliminating barriers that get in the way of our scholars reaching their full potential. We are committed to best practices and strategies that address individual needs through our Science and Social Studies-themed Areas of Study. We strive to help scholars become self-directed learners through culturally relevant instruction and materials. Through shared leadership with students, families, staff and community partners, we actively participate in student learning and achievement.
COVID-19 Student and Family Guidelines
SPPS will require masks for all people in a school setting (ages 2+), including all teachers, staff, students and visitors, regardless of vaccination status. Families should familiarize themselves with the SPPS COVID-19 Student and Family Guidelines, which are updated regularly and cover prevention strategies, health screening and monitoring, and the SPPS COVID-19 Reporting System.
Ms. Cherek brings a wealth of experience in helping our youngest students succeed. She has served as a Pre-K, kindergarten and elementary teacher, a staff coach to support early learning programs, and most recently, as a continuous improvement specialist for John A. Johnson to help improve student achievement.
