Welcome Back to School Letter from Principal Melisa Rivera
Dear Cherokee Families,
“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.” –Harriet Tubman
On behalf of the Cherokee Elementary School community, it is truly a joy and an honor to welcome you to the 2016-2017 school year!
Mission and Goals:
As I begin my second year as principal of the Cherokee Heights community, I will continue to work diligently with our children, community, staff, and families to provide exceptional experiences for all children. Our children deserve the very best education! As we begin the year, I would like to communicate our school theme for this academic year: “Every Piece Matters.” This year our focus will continue to revolve around building strong & positive relationships with students and their families, high student engagement, academic rigor, and most importantly, developing a school culture where every voice is heard and valued. We will make this happen through our Professional Learning Communities, community partnerships, level/team meetings and our emphasis on getting to “know” our students, families, and staff through every possible opportunity.
In closing, please enjoy the remaining days of summer. I look forward to welcoming our children back to school on Tuesday, September 6, 2016. I look forward to seeing many of you at Open House on Thursday, September 1, 2016 beginning at 4:30pm and ending at 6:00 p.m. If you should you have any questions at all regarding the electronic communication information, please call the office for assistance at (651) 293-8610. Please frequently check the Cherokee Heights website throughout the year for up-to-date information and events.
