Welcome from the HPMS Administrative Team
-
Our goal is to work collaboratively with students, staff, and families to ensure student success. We do this by building relationships with our staff, students and their families, modeling effective leadership practices, and supporting classroom instruction to increase student achievement. We believe that all children can learn, and it is our responsibility to develop and support policies and procedures as well as provide resources so that teachers can teach and students can learn.
Hibaq Mohamed, Assistant Principal

-
Mrs. Hibaq Mohamed comes with experience in curriculum and instruction supporting secondary educators and school administrators in the Teaching and Learning Department at Minneapolis Public Schools before joining Highland Middle. Prior to that, she was an English teacher for many years and began her teaching career as a special education associate (EA). Mrs. Mohamed holds a Bachelor of Science in Teaching, a Master’s degree in Education and a K-12 Administrator License from the University of Minnesota.
Mrs. Mohamed’s family moved to the USA when she was 5 years old from Somalia. She values and enjoys learning new languages and speaks 4 languages (including English). When not at work, she enjoys visiting state parks with her husband and their four children and trying new food. Mrs. Mohamed knows that the middle years are essential and works hard to ensure all of our students and their families have a successful middle school experience.
