Ms. Lori Thomas-Williams
I am so grateful to be the ELL teacher at Crossroads Montessori since 2002. I teach multilingual students in grades k-5 supporting their literacy in the content areas.
I knew that I would be a teacher when I was 5 years old! When I discovered English as a Second Language, I knew that I found the perfect job for me! I went to the University of Wisconsin at LaCrosse where I majored in Education ESL (grades k-12) and English Language Arts (grades 6-12). I was able to do my student teaching in New Zealand working with high school Maori students. I then taught English in a remote village in Northern Japan for one year. When I returned to the US, I taught ELL in Skokie, Illinois where there were 33 languages in my school. In Winona, I taught ELL while getting my masters in Teaching and Learning at St. Mary's University. Then I moved to Fort Collins, Colorado where I taught ELL and improved my Spanish spending a summer in Costa Rica living with a Spanish speaking family. I moved to St. Paul and started teaching ELL at Crossroads while I did my post masters work in Critical Pedagogy focusing on Anti-racist work.
I live in St. Paul with my husband Enrico, our son Sami, and our dog Lucy. Sami goes to L'Etoile du Nord French Immersion, a St. Paul public school. We are so happy that he is growing up bilingual!
