Mrs. Young

Hello Families and Welcome to Second Grade at Capitol Hill! My name is Ann Young. We are going to have a spectacular time learning together in our classroom community. I love the enthusiasm and energy that children bring to their own learning!  I have taught for over 30 years in St. Paul Public Schools.  I have been teaching at Capitol Hill in thrid grade since 1992 and have been teaching second grade since 1997. I have experience with the Gifted and Talented Program being both a teacher and a parent who had three of my own children attend Captiol Hill. Prior to teaching at Capitol Hill I taught Kindergarten in St. Paul schools.

I attended Vermillion Coumminty College located in my home town of Ely, Minnesota and graduated from the College of St. Scholastica with a BA degree in K-6 Elementary in 1987. I received my Masters in Education from Winona State University in 1988 while teaching Kindergarten in Rochester, Minnesota. Everyday I strive to learn about intereting topics or learn how to do or make something.  You are never too old to learn!

I am married and we have three adult sons. We love to spend time at our cabin up north near Ely with family and friends.  Some of my passions, interests, and hobbies are are yoga, crocheting, attending sports events, biking, nature hiking, collecting rocks, fishing, reading mystery novels, and writing poetry.

Parents, I am here for you and your child should you have any questions or concerns. The best way to contact me is by email ann.young@spps.org during school hours.  Remember we are a learning community family who will work together to educate, nurture and support your child this school year.

I love teaching and learning! We have a very differnt start to the 2020-2021 school year with Distance Learning but we also have a busy spectacular year of learning together planned. I am excited to be a part of such a wonderful and supportive community of learners. Be safe and be happy!

Best Regards,

Ann Young
