Peb ntseeg tias yim paub ntau hom lus, yim zoo xwb thiab yog ib txoj kev yuav pab kom ua tau ib tug neeg txawj ntse, txawj xav, thiab txawj coj rau yav pem suab. Phalen Lake offers a unique opportunity for students to discover the gift of bilingualism through our Hmong Dual Language program. We believe knowing more than one language brings countless benefits to our students and greatly enhances their intellectual growth, their cross-cultural skills, and broadens their world views to make world-class citizens.
Phalen Lake has a Hmong two-way immersion program. We value and believe that knowing two languages enables learners to be compassionate citizens, flexible thinkers, creative problem solvers, and competent workers in today’s global society.
Phalen Lake students are confident, creative thinkers who seek and use knowledge in a changing world.
Throughout the year, all students learn about Hmong history and culture. Their learning is expanded to learn about other cultures and communities in their neighborhood. Students connect their learning to their own lives and to that of their friends and neighbors. Students are encouraged to learn their home languages and to learn new ones.
Starting September 2022, the middle school will open with grade 6 and will be the upper campus to Phalen Lake. The middle school will later add grade 7 (fall 2023) and grade 8 (fall 2024). Phalen Lake will continue to serve grades PreK-5.
As a bilingual and bi-cultural leader, Ms. Xiong values the cultural assets that staff, students, and families bring to Phalen Lake. She looks forward to continuing her partnership with you and building upon the relationships she has established at Phalen Lake over the last 16 years.
Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS) is a framework that creates and sustains positive, effective and culturally-inclusive environments for all students.
