Degrees and Certifications:
B. Music Ed, Northwestern University MA, University of St. Thomas
Welcome to music at Johnson High School!
My name is Anne Marie Person, and I am the Director of Orchestra and Bands as well as teacher of guitar and music history. In 1986, legendary principal Fred Kaiser invited me to join the faculty here as the Orchestra Director, and then, two years later, he requested that I also direct the Band. Starting with the Class of 1992, I have also served as advisor to the senior class.
Playing as a student inspired me to teach. Sharing those aesthetic and musical experiences with the next generation appealed to me. It also allows me to meet and work with some super people!
My educational background includes a Master of Arts degree from St. Thomas and a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Northwestern University. I graduated from Richfield High School, and am therefore able to drive through Minneapolis without getting lost. (Usually.)
My hobbies include reading history and painting in acrylics. I also continue to play violin in community orchestras.
As an educator, my goal is to help my students work towards their potential as musicians and as people.
Please e-mail me with any questions. I try to answer e-mails within two business days.
