Degrees and Certifications:
My name is Kjerstin Hagen. This is my 4th year here at American Indian Magnet and I am very honored and excited to be back teaching here. This year I'm co-teaching 7th and 8th grade ELA with Ms.Mahoney, Native AVID with Mr.Bresette, and 6th grade Foundations with Ms.Robmann. I also teach 2 of my own special education reading classes where students work on decoding and comprehension.
I was born in Mankato and moved from Minneapolis 3 years ago to EastSt.Paul. I attended Augsburg college and majored in American Indian Studies and Tribal Special Education. My passion is empowering children through community engagement and education that is relevant and fun. I LOVE puns and teaching kids how to understand and enjoy reading and writing! My favorite hobbies are hiking, biking, singing, going to Powwows, rock-climbing, baking, and hanging out with my cat, Jasper Binx!
