Ms. Elizabeth Curran
Hi, My name is Elizabeth Curran and I love kids! I also love books so being an English teacher is a perfect fit! This is my 10th year at Murray, but my 27th year in St. Paul schools! I am happy to be part of this dynamic 6th grade team.
In Readers' Workshop, your child will be reading several young adult fiction books. They will form bookclubs, develop questions for discussions and write book reports about their book. They also will improve their non-fiction reading skills by reading various articles and writing a summary. These assignments are called " Article of the Week" and they are on high-interest topics. The students will also have weekly quizzes on Greek and Latin roots.
In Writers' Workshop, your child will be writing a memoir, a persuasive essay, an aurgument essay, a literay essay, a feature article and a letter to the editor. We will be submitting our newspaper pieces to the St. Anthony Park Bugle this spring! We use the writing writing process ( pre-write, draft, edit, revise, publish) to develop these written products. The students will also have weekly vocabulary quizzes.

I am looking forward to a wonderful school year!
