John Anger has been teaching for 23 years. The first 5 years he taught 5th grade at Benjamin E. Mays Elementary School. He's been at Dayton's Bluff for the past 18 years, the last 8 in first grade. Mr. Anger did his undergraduate work at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, graduating in 1997 as a nontraditional student. He attained a Master's Degree in Gifted Education from Minnesota State-Mankato in 2003.
Mr. Anger has always valued education so when his third child was born, he decided it was time to go back to school to get a degree in education after spending 13 years building walk-in coolers in a factory. Mr. Anger believes that was the best career decision he has ever made!
Outside of school, Mr. Anger loves to read, camp, and fish. Mr. Anger is a Minnesota sports fan and has been a huge Vikings and Twins fan since he was a boy. He was part of the Knothole Gang at the old Metropolitan stadium and loved to watch Rod Carew, Harmon Killebrew, and Tony Oliva play ball. As a boy Mr. Anger always wanted to become a professional baseball player, but he simply never had the talent.
Mr. Anger is deeply invested in his church and served as an elder and trustee. His faith keeps him focused on what is important...at school that means seeing and cultivating the best in his students and making sure they know that they are loved and valued.
