Ms. Laura Nunez
Ms. Nunez has been a teacher in the St. Paul Public Schools for over 20 years. She became a teacher in 1994 when she successfully completed the CUE (Collaborative Urban Educator) Program at the University of St. Thomas. She has taught 4th, 5th and 6th grades. She came to Eastern Heights in 2007 and is currently teaching 5th grade.
When not at school Ms. Nunez spends times with her family, usually visiting and caring for her parents after school. She also enjoys watching one niece, who is in college, perform in her college theater programs and cheer on another niece at her gymnastic meets. When given a chance she likes to spend time with the nieces and nephew in the area, even spoiling them every once in awhile.
Ms. Nunez was born and raised in St. Paul to parents who emigrated from Mexico. Ms. Nunez grew up speaking both English and Spanish at home. Her parents instilled in her at a young age of the idea of going to college, since neither of them had the opportunity. That motivated her to go college and later become a teacher.
Ms. Nunez enjoys working with the students, family and staff at Eastern Heights. She is thrilled seeing her students grow both academically and socially throughout the year. She also believes that all students are capable of success and that taking advantage your education is the key to success. “The beautiful thing about learning is that nobody can take it away from you.” - B.B. King.
