Degrees and Certifications:
Hello! My name is Will Upton and I teach 8th grade global studies (world geography) and the In These Times elective class. The 2021-2022 school year will be my ninth year teaching at Murray Middle School and my third year teaching as an 8th grade social studies teacher.
I am originally from Madison, WI where I developed a love for all Wisconsin sports teams and natural landscapes. I attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison (Go Badgers!) for college, majoring in Secondary Education and History, with a certificate in Global Studies. After living briefly in New York City after graduating college, I moved to the Twin Cities and completed a Master’s degree at Hamline University.
In my free time, I love to hang out with friends and family, watch my favorite Wisconsin sports teams, go shopping at the local farmers market, attend all sorts of live music, travel the world, and explore nature by hiking and camping.
In my global studies classes, students will study the seven continents on planet Earth. Students will learn about world cultures and religions, bodies of water, landforms, human rights, and current events. Students will be asked to practice the skills of a geographer by completing class projects and taking unit tests. Students will also learn reading, writing, and speaking skills that will get them ready for high school and beyond.
Email is the best way to get in touch with me: firstname.lastname@example.org, but feel free to call anytime as well. 651-293-8740.
