Welcome to classroom 3210!

We are learning and exploring everyday.
Our schedule includes:

Responsive classroom: This is a portion of the responsive classroom model. Each day students get to come together to socialize and learn. Morning meeting has four different components: The morning message, greeting, sharing, and the activity. These elements allow the students time to get to know each other, practice various social skills, and learn about themselves.

Reader's workshop: Reader's workshop consists of three main parts: A mini lesson, student work time/independent reading time, and sharing. This hour long workshop model focuses on small guided reading groups, various reading comprehension strategies, and students making connections to a wide variety of texts. We use many ways to share texts, such as: partner reading, shared reading, and read alouds.

Writer's workshop: Writer's Workshop consists of three main parts: A mini lesson, student work time, and student share time. This hour long workshop consists of the students working independently on various writing skills while having time to confer with their teacher. Often we write in our writing journals. We also focus on specific units of study. We work through the writing process to publish a piece of work.

Math workshop (Everyday Math): In third grade, students focus on a variety of math concepts. The goal is for students to be able to independently master specific skills called secure skills. We often start as a whole group then progress to independent and partner work. This curriculum also uses games that allow students to practice math concepts in a social setting.

We also participate in several aerospace activities including field trips, projects, and assemblies, which make up an integral part of our daily curriculum.
