Degrees and Certifications:
My name is Bianka Pineda and this is my third year at Hazel Park Preparatory Academy. I work with all the MYP students grades 6-8th.
I was born in Guatemala and moved to Rochester, MN with my family when I was young. I attended UW-Madison for my B.A. and UMN-Twin Cities for my M.A. in Counseling & Student Personnel Psychology and school counseling license. St. Paul has been home to my husband, children and I since 1999.
I focus on supporting students – academically, emotionally, and socially – both in school and in life. Students can face many challenges that may become obstacles. I believe that by working together (families, students, the school system, and the community), we can assist our students in overcoming such obstacles and achieving success.
There are many wonderful parts of my job, but I can say that my favorite is connecting with each and every student. I make an effort to get to know all of my students and to build a trusting relationship so they can come to me with any issue, no matter how big or small.
I will be visiting MYP classes each quarter to do classroom counseling lessons and activities. Lessons are based on the American School Counseling Association (ASCA) National Model and focus on academic, career, and personal/social development of all students. I also run several small groups for helping selected students with specific concerns. Other issues I can help students with include organization, scheduling, grades, summer school, high school applications, and resume writing.
Please feel free to contact me via phone 651-744-8323 or email firstname.lastname@example.org if you need help or have any questions. My goal is for all of our students to build the foundation they need to be successful in high school.
