My name is Mrs. Stern. I am the WINN (What I Need Next) teacher at Highwood Hills. I support students in the area of reading and writing. I have worked at Highwood Hills for almost 28 years. I have taught grades Pre-K through 5^th grade at some point throughout my teaching career. I grew up in Roseville, Minnesota. I am married and have two children in their early 20’s. My daughter just got her teaching license and is following in my footsteps. In my spare time, I love to ski, hike, spend time with family and friends, and walk my dogs, Jack and Ginger.

I love Highwood Hills because it is like my second home. I started teaching at Highwood Hills because my aunt was a teacher here. I think it is a great place filled with diversity in our students and staff. I enjoy learning about other cultures, differences, and similarities in our very own building. I also enjoy our resident artist who has been coming to our building for 15-years to teach students about mask and puppet making. Highwood Hills is a great place to be because we have parents who are willing to help in any way they can. Finally, the teachers and other staff that I work with are amazing and welcoming to everyone. These adults are willing to go the extra mile to make sure a student is ok and getting what they need to be successful. I couldn’t ask for a more supportive environment for the students I work with. All students are loved and cared for at Highwood Hills.
