Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Chinyere C. Obasi

I am so privileged to be working in my 5th year as the Licensed School Nurse. Above all, I am so honored to be returning to Heights Community School this year, thanks to the support of our staff, administration, scholars, and Height community family. I am scheduled in this building two days a week, (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) from 8am to 3:30pm, but we have an experienced health aide who is here five days a week. My other schools when am not at Height includes St Paschal Baylon, Central Lutheran, Christ House of Faith, St Paul Prep, and Lubavitch school. My phone number is 651-744-8237 and the health assistant number is 651-888-7631.

Educational background and Experiences: My educational preparation includes a Master's degree in Nursing, Certified Nursing Assistant/home aide instructor and tester, Certified advanced Practice Intrapartum Obstetrics registered Nurse, and certified public Health Nurse. I have 33 years experience as a registered nurse. My work experiences include working in acute hospital settings and public and private schools in St Paul school district. I am certified in the following areas; CPR, NRP, and Automatic External Defibrillation.

Nursing care in the Student Health Office: Care in the student health office includes professional emergent first aid, care coordination, chronic health condition management such as asthma, diabetes, behavioral health, and to potentially life threatening conditions such as allergies and anaphylaxis. Skilled nursing assessment, intervention, and evaluation process within an educative, research-based, transcultural nursing care, and advocating framework are integrated into every individual daily visit with your child in attempt to ensure that health care needs are fulfilled.

Nursing Goal: My goal is to make sure that each scholar has a health care support in order to understand and manage their individual health condition within their abilities and keep scholars in the classroom where learning occurs. At Height Community School, our focus is to pay attention on hygiene, exercise, nutrition and emotional well-being to promote healthy life-styles of our scholars. I encourage parents to pay attention to important health office information on our school News Letter at "Student Health Corner". This area will address what is going on related to the health of our students. I look forward to working collaboratively with you, your child, your child's teacher, and health care providers to enhance success and wellbeing.
