Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Jennifer Masrud

Hello, my name is Jennifer Masrud and this is my 3rd year as Music Specialist at Chelsea Heights Elementary.  This is my 23rd year in St. Paul Public Schools and 31st year as an elementary music educator.  I have a Bachelors of Music Education from UTSA (University of Texas at San Antonio) and a Masters of  Music Education from the University of MN in Minneapolis.  My teaching experience is in Grades K – 6 and this is where my passion has always been.

When I am not at Chelsea Heights I like to sing in my church, read historical fiction, go to concerts and the theater, spend time with my large extended family and travel whenever I can get the chance.  My husband and I are from Wisconsin but have lived in West St. Paul for 23 years.  When we were first married we moved to Texas and both our daughter and son were born there.  Our children are grown and married and I am pleased to say the I have one grand-daughter and one grand-puppy.

I am very proud to be a member of the Chelsea Heights Community and thoroughly enjoy making beautiful music with our talented students each and every day.  When I first learned West African drumming from an Artist-in-Residence almost a decade ago, he shared a beautiful quote that I often refer to in my teaching practice.  “Music Celebrates Life and Brings People Together”.  This reminds us of how crucial The Arts are to all people and all cultures around the world.
