Ms. Kelsey Deutz

Kelsey began teaching at Nokomis in 2012.  Kelsey received her degree in Elementary Education from the College of Saint Benedict in St. Joseph, MN.  In college, Kelsey also received a speciality in science by taking courses in chemistry, biology, physics, environmental science, astronomy, and geology.  Kelsey has a passion for learning “how stuff works?”. Since becoming a science teacher Kelsey has found teaching the engineering design process to be her favorite.  Kelsey went on to recieve her Masters in Education in Differentiated Instruction at Concordia University in St. Paul, MN.  This degree serves her well working with the multiage classes at Nokomis.

Kelsey grew up in the Twin Cities, and still lives in the Twin Cities. When Kelsey is not at school, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her family and friends.  She expecially enjoys the snow and snow activities like skiing.  Some of her other hobbies include going to her family cabin, dancing, playing recreational sports, cooking, traveling, and playing games.

Kelsey has worked at both Nokomis Campuses.  As a science specialist teacher she gets to teach all of the students in the school on a rotating schedule.  It is a great opportunity for her to watch students grow and learn through their whole elementary school journey at Nokomis.  Students at Nokomis are naturally curious and always excited to find out what they will learn next in science.

Students in 5th grade also take a science MCA in the spring.
