Groveland achieves a unique balance by combining a small learning community feel with all the opportunities available in a large urban school. Partnerships with local universities, community organizations and parents enable us to offer a broad selection of rich experiences. For example, students enjoy art and theater residencies, visits from professional musicians and artists, and field trips to nature centers, art collections, music performances and more. Each year Groveland has an Amity Intern, a native speaker from Spain, Mexico or South America, to teach some Spanish vocabulary as well as cultural appreciation to students. The balance achieved between small community feel and large school offerings is one of Groveland’s proudest achievements.
Some of the community partners include:
- St. Paul Chamber Orchestra - SPCO's CONNECT
- Belwin Nature Center
- Northern Clay Center
- Stepping Stone Theater and other theater residencies
- Minneapolis Institute of Arts
- YMCA Camp Widjiwagan - Each year, 5th grade classes have an opportunity to travel to the Boundary Waters area near Ely, Minnesota to enjoy this unique environmental science program for four days.
- University of St. Thomas
