Aerospace & Engineering Magnet Requirements

  • Investigate! Innovate! Initiate! The Aerospace & Engineering magnet program actively engages students in solving problems. Students seek to examine, understand and protect our planet and explore the universe beyond. Students search for solutions to design challenges using science, technology, engineering and mathematics. In addition to Johnson’s Project Lead the Way pre-engineering classes, aviation courses are also offered.

Students and parents in Johnson’s Aerospace & Engineering magnet program should study Table 4. The table shows the choice of classes that Aerospace & Engineering students have from ninth grade through their senior year. Please note, freshman are required to take Introduction to Engineering Design I or II and at least one more of the indicated courses. Sophomores, juniors, and seniors must select at least one of the indicated courses each year to remain eligible for the program. Students are encouraged to take additional courses from these selections if their schedule allows. For example, a ninth grader could select a third course such as Introduction to Flight Simulators. Please consult with your guidance counselor if you have any questions.
