Applying Federal, State, and School District guidelines, children may be found eligible for special education services. The process involves referral and evaluation to determine whether or not the student meets established criteria. If the student qualifies, an Individual Education Plan (IEP) is developed with input from parents, regular education teachers, and the child's special education team. Annual goals and objectives are developed to promote the educational success of individual students.
Randolph Heights provides special education services for students with a variety of disabilities, including Specific Learning Disabilities, Speech and Language Disabilities, Other Health Disabilities, Developmental Delay, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Emotional Behavior Disabilities. Special education staff in the building include a full time special education teacher and paraprofessional, and a part-time speech language pathologist, social worker, occupational therapist, physical therapist and DAPE (developmental & adaptive physical education) instructor.
