  • Destination Imagination: Imagine Yourself Involved

Destination Imagination (DI) is a national program with a strong tradition at Chelsea Heights.   DI teaches students in grades 2-5 to work together to creatively solve problems. Working in grade level teams, participants chose a Challenge to solve over several weeks and present their solution at tournaments.  Challenge categories (technical, scientific, fine arts, improvisational, structural, service learning and early learning) are the same each year, with themes changing annually.

DI participants also work on instant challenges where teams have only a few minutes to find a solution to a performance-based or task-based challenge.  These opportunities build life-long skills of cooperation, flexibility, and creativity.

Adult volunteers are needed to manage or co-manage teams of 5-7 students.  Materials & basic supplies are provided for each team.  DI teams meet after school or on a weekend for several months preparing for competition. Managing a team is a little work and a lot of fun!
