Mrs. Corbett

Hello and welcome to another school year at Highland Park Senior High School! I’m looking forward to getting to know each of you and sharing my love of math and learning with you! On this site you will find information about myself, your specific class (assignments, links, syllibi), and contact information.

About Mrs. Corbett...

Hi! My name is Mrs. Corbett and this is my eighth year teaching at Highland Park Senior High and my twelfth year in SPPS. This year I will be teaching Accelerated Algebra II, Intermediate Algebra, Theory of Knowledge, and Computer Programming.  Outside of the classroom I co-coordinate Link Crew (which you can learn more about here) and chair the grading and assessment task force.

I graduated from Bloomington Kennedy High School in 1998 and then spent two years at St. Mary's University in Winona, MN and eventually graduated from St. Cloud State University in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in both Mathematics and Meteorology. I then spent two years volunteering full time with Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity through AmeriCorps. After that I received my license through the University of Minnesota's post-baccalaureate program, and completed my Masters in Education there in 2009. Outside of work I enjoy training for and competing in triathlons, camping, hiking, reading, and of course spending time with my family. I have a daughter, Addie, who is 9 and a son, Max, who is 6. With my husband, Brian, and our kids, we enjoy being outside, playing sports, biking, and traveling.

    Theory of Knowledge

TOK is a course about critical thinking and inquiring into the process of knowing and how we know what we claim to know.

We will focus on the different ways of knowing (language, sense perception, emotion, reason, imagination, faith, intuition, and memory) and how we utilize them in various areas of knowledge (mathematics, natural sciences, human sciences, history, the arts, ethics, religious knowledge systems, and indigenous knowledge systems).

If you are having trouble at any time in any of these classes, I am available for tutoring before and after school by appointment.

You will find links to your texts on your class page as well as a course syllabus.
