Ms. Oquist

Hi, I am Kellie Oquist.  I am a licensed EBD teacher at Highland Park Senior working with grades 9-12.  This is my 15th year working in St. Paul Schools and my 6th year at Highland.  Over the years I have served as Highland's special education coach,  the department chair for Special Ed at Highland, and the child study lead.  I am currently a member of Highland's Leadership Teams. I began teaching special education students at Highland Senior as a licensed EBD teacher in 2011. Previous to Highland, I taught for 10 years at Battle Creek Middle School as an EBD teacher.  I received my bachelors degree from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota and my special education license from Bethel University in Arden Hills, Minnesota.  This year I look forward to teaching a Fusion 2 reading course, a small group special education math class, two College and Career Readiness classes and a co-taught Intermediate Algebra class with Ms. Corbett.

I live on a small dairy farm outside of the Twin Cities area in a beautiful area of Wisconsin.  We milk about 40 cows and have a total herd size of about 100 cows, steers, heifers and adorable calves.  We also have a small herd of barn cats that follow me wherever I go.  My favorite out-of-school and non-farm chore activities include traveling (when I can find a farm sitter), cooking, running (however, my knees have just about had it.), biking, walking, and gardening. I always believe that the next year will be the best year for the garden...the tomatoes will be staked, the weeds will weed themselves, and the entire harvest will get canned/froze/peeled/picked.  I am always cooking, but I can't seem to keep up with what I am growing.  Homemade mozzarella is now on the menu.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
