Welcome to Health and Wellness
Health and Wellness provides nursing services to students to enhance educational achievement by the modification or removal of health-related barriers to learning. The goal of the program is to assist students to be self-sufficient in managing their health care within age appropriate expectations thereby preparing all students for life.
Please contact your building Licensed School Nurse (LSN) regarding any health concerns that impact learning, require medication at school, or have the potential to result in an emergency.
COVID-19 Vaccine to be Available at SPPS Locations in Mid-November for Children Ages 5-11
With the authorization by the FDA and CDC of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 5-11, the way has been cleared to offer vaccination clinics to our youngest students starting in mid-November. SPPS is partnering with Saint Paul-Ramsey County Public Health and will be holding cinics at Como Park Elementary School, starting Monday, November 15th and Battle Creek Elementary School, starting Tuesday, November 16th. Kids Deserve a Shot
All Minnesotans age 12-17 years who are still in need of a COVID vaccination are encouraged to roll up their sleeves and take advantage of the state's "Kids Deserve a Shot" incentive campaign. Minnesota teens who get fully vaccinated between October 18th - November 30th are eligible for a $200 Visa gift card and can be entered into a drawing for a $100,000 Minnesota college scholarship. Currently teens have the lowest vaccination rates, with only 50% of 12-15 year-olds and less than 60% of 16-17 year-old Minnesotans fully vaccinated. Deadline for eligibiity is Tuesday, November 9. Youth must get their first shot by November 9 and will be eligible if they complete the series by November 30.
