Cell Phone and Electronics Policy

  • Battle Creek Middle School discourages students from bringing cell phones, iPods, headphones, and other electronic equipment to school.  Electronics often become a distraction to the educational environment and are targets of theft.  Students who choose to bring cell phones and/or other electronics to school do so at their own risk.  Battle Creek Middle School and the St. Paul Public School District will not be liable for any damage, loss, or theft of electronic devices (SPPS Policy 520.00: Information Technology Usage & Safety Policy).

If students bring cell phones/electronic devices to school they may only be used before and after school.  Students whose electronics are seen or heard during instructional time will have their devices confiscated.

    Violation of Cell Phone/Electronic Policy:

1st Offense:  The cell phone/electronic device will be confiscated and returned at the end of the day.

2nd Offense:  The cell phone/electronic device will be confiscated and returned at the end of the week*.

3rd Offense:  The student will be given an after school detention and a parent/guardian will need to pick up the cell phone/electronic device*.

4th Offense:  The cell phone/electronic device will be placed in the “June Box” (lock box that holds electronics until the final day of school) and returned on the last day of school*.

*A parent/guardian may contact an administrator and make an appointment to collect their child’s cell phone/electronic device at any time.
