Secondary (6-12) Science Overview
All SPPS students will think and act like scientists and engineers.
Secondary Science in SPPS focuses on building both the science content and the inquiry and engineering skills outlined in the Minnesota Academic Science Standards. Each school’s science teachers provide hands-on, inquiry-based instruction needed to meet these standards.
All science instruction in SPPS is designed to address the Minnesota Academic Standards for K-12 Science. The benchmarks that are in bold font and italics were selected as priority benchmarks through a rigorous analysis by teams of SPPS teachers. Priority benchmarks guide planning, drive instruction, and serve as "umbrellas" for the remaining benchmarks.
