English 11 HL (Higher Level)
THERE IS NO REQUIRED SUMMER READING FOR INCOMING HIGHER LEVEL ENGLISH STUDENTS.
Course Description: English 11 HL is a demanding honors course meeting international standards. Students should be highly motivated, college-bound juniors who are prepared to commit to a course of study which requires independent reading coupled with detailed critical response journals, critical thinking, and written literary commentaries. There is a strong emphasis placed on class discussion. There will be a required IB higher-level essay of 1200-1500 words and a required practice IA of 8-10 minutes. This course, along with English 12 HL, will prepare students for the Higher Level IB exams in May of their senior year.
