    Course Description:  In this introductory course students will work in a lab to complete a progression of projects starting with the basics and advancing to more difficult construction techniques.  Students will also learn the tools of the trade or equipment.  During the semester some of the projects will include designing and producing our own pin cushion, apron, pajama bottoms and top and or a bag.

    Course Description:
    This course is a continuation of Clothing Technology 1. Students will learn and apply complex skills to clothing technology. Students will work in a lab to complete projects using and applying technical information. Students will investigate textile and demonstrate safe use of equipment, including setting up and maintenance of standard sewing machines and sergers.  Students will increase and develop skills by working on advanced sewing projects, patterns,

    and/or textile.
     
    Clothing Technology 3
    Prerequisite: Clothing Technology 1 and 2

    Course Description:
    This course is a continuation of Clothing Technology 2. Students will learn and apply more complex skills to clothing technology. Students will work in a lab to complete projects using and applying technical information. Students will investigate textile and demonstrate safe use of equipment including setting up and maintenance of standard sewing machines and sergers.  Students will create a fabric construction portfolio, including a complex garment using a

    challenging textile and/or advanced pattern.
     
    Clothing Tech (L.E.A.P.)

    Course Description:
    Students learn the basic use, safety, tools, maintenance and minor repair of common home sewing machines. They will also demonstrate the skills to design and construct aprons, book bags, pillows, quilts car upholstery and other varies garments as well as some tailoring and altering. Depending on students ability and safety requirements, some will progress to using industrial machines to construct projects.
     
    Needle Arts
    Prerequisite: None

    Course Description:
    Students will learn and demonstrate the basics of several needle arts by creating samplers and small projects. A larger, final project of student’s choice, approved by instructor will exhibit mastery of one type of needle art. Related career options will be explored.
     
    Quilting

    Students will learn and demonstrate the basics of quilting techniques by creating samplers and small projects. A larger, final project of student’s choice, approved by instructor will exhibit quilting skill.
     
    Fashion Design
    Prerequisite: Clothing Technology 1 and 2, or teacher approval.

    Course Description:
    In this course, the student’s intuition and imagination are challenged to create a fashion line. The collection will express an idea requiring the selection and arrangement of materials with the aim of achieving a particular goal, including function, order, simplicity and beauty. During the art of creation, students will learn and use principles and elements of design that are common to all visual arts. Discussion of these principles and elements of design followed by traditional as well as high tech practice will provide tremendous potential for the creation of a distinctive fashion line.
     
    Fashion Merchandising

    Course Description:
    Students will develop, create, and design a business plan for a fashion retail business. Their plans will incorporate an understanding of budget management, marketing, and professional communication. The business concept will demonstrate an understanding of industry trends and all aspects of the fashion industry. Students will explore various career paths in fashion merchandising.
