Somali Parent Advisory Council

Who We Are
The Somali Parent Advisory Council (SPAC) is a Somali parent group supported by and coordinated through Office of Family Engagement & Community Partnerships. SPAC was found in early 2011 under the direction of Strong Schools, Strong Communities (SSSC) initiatives to connect community and encourage family and parents to become active participants in their children's education. SPAC serves as a platform for parents to meet and share concerns related to the needs of Somali families. Moreover, it is a place for parents to learn new ideas to support the growth of the individual child and beyond.
What We Do
SPAC holds a monthly advisory meeting where Somali parents come to hear topics of concern that are organized and presented by appropriate individuals or groups of professionals. SPAC also organizes district-wide meetings to inform and educate Somali parents with educational related topics to strengthen the partnerships between home, school and community.
