Mr. Devin Ayers
My name is Devin Ayers. This is my 16th year of teaching and my first at Highland Park Elementary. I am originally from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. After high school, I attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. I received my B.A. in Child Development (Elementary Education). While working in schools in the Atlanta area, I received my master's degree in Urban Teacher Leadership at Georgia State University.
I am married with 3 children and a dog. In my spare time I enjoy reading, playing and watching sports, and cooking.
At HPE, we have high expectations for all of our students. By sharing and working cooperatively, I believe our students will grow academically and emotionally. We put an emphasis on caring and making good choices to strengthen the values of our students, then, throughout the year, we will focus on developing independent learners who assume responsibility by contributing to class activities and discussions, completing assignments on time, and coming to class prepared with the proper materials.
Please make sure that your child is reading every night for at least thirty minutes. Ask follow up questions about what they have read. Review a map of the United States and have your child identify the states and capitals. Discuss the places people in your family have lived. Quiz your child on the basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts every day.
I know we are going to have a fantastic year. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
