• Pads For Educators Prep


    Complete the steps listed below before you attend the iPads for Educators event to ensure a successful set up experience. If you do not complete these steps before the iPads for Educators event, you will be required to complete these steps in a pre-registration room before you will be allowed to move on to the iPad setup rooms, and this could add up to an additional hour to your time commitment.

    Please bring your SPPS photo ID with you to the event.

    Download the Password Form

    Click on the Password Form PDF at the bottom of this page to download the form.  Record your username and password for each of the accounts on the form, and bring it with you to the iPads for Educators event. Please keep this document in a secure location to prevent unauthorized access to your accounts.

    Create and Verify Your Apple ID

    You may use a school or personal Apple ID on the district iPad.  However, we recommend that you create a new Apple ID for your professional use so that your personal pictures, data, and apps are kept separate from your school data.  You may use your Lotus Notes email address (@spps.org) or your SPPS Apps email address (@stpaul.k12.mn.us) to create this Apple ID.  Record your Apple ID username and password on the password form.

    Not sure if you already have an Apple ID?  Go to http://iforgot.apple.com/appleid and complete the online form.

    Have an Apple ID, but can't remember the password?  Go to http://iforgot.apple.com and enter your Apple ID / email address in the field and follow the prompts to reset the password.

    Create a New Apple ID without a Credit Card -  Please follow the step-by-step directions on the Create an Apple ID without a Credit Card PDF attached to this page. You will need a computer with iTunes in order to complete this process. Once you have created the Apple ID in iTunes, you must open the email from Apple and follow the link to verify your Apple ID.  Note: The online form will timeout if you take too long to create the Apple ID, and you will be forced to start over.  Click on the Apple ID Security Questions document linked below to access a list of possible security questions before you start this process.

    Remove a Credit Card from an Existing Apple ID - If you already have an Apple ID and have a credit card tied to that account, you will need to remove the credit card from the account before you pick up your iPad.  If you do not remove the credit card from your account and attempt to use that Apple ID on your new iPad, you will be prompted to enter the security code or other payment information to verify your account.  Follow the directions under "Change your payment information on a Mac or PC" at https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201266 to remove your credit card.

    Verify Your Active Directory Username and Password

    To confirm that your Active Directory password is working properly, log in to your SPPS Apps account at http://start.stpaul.k12.mn.us with your Active Directory username (e######) and password.  Once you have successfully logged in, locate your SPPS Apps email address in the upper right corner above the blue Share button, and write down the email address on the passwords form.

    If you were unable to log in to your SPPS Apps account, please restart your district computer and attempt to log in and change your password.  This must be done on a district computer on the district network.  If you are not able to reset your password after the computer restart,  please call the Service Desk at (651)603-4357.

    Verify Your Web Mail Username and Password

    In order to set up Lotus Notes Traveler on the iPad, you will need to know your web mail username and password. Your web mail account is your Lotus Notes email account that is accessed through an Internet browser, such as Firefox, Safari, or Chrome. The username on this account is your firstname(space)lastname, such as Jane Doe.

    To check your web mail credentials, open a browser, and go to http://spps8.spps.org and log in with your web mail username and password.  If your password doesn't work, please try the default password or submit a Service Desk ticket to request a web mail password reset.

    Backup your Data on SPPS iPads

    If you currently have an SPPS iPad assigned to you, please bring the iPad, cable, charger , and case with you to the iPads for Educators event. You will need to backup your data on the iPad and erase it before you return the device.  Follow the directions in How to Backup and Erase Your iPad to backup your data, turn off Find My iPad, remove the device from your account, and erase the device.
