Mrs.Roth's Classroom

  • Welcome to 3rd grade in room 2104. I am excited to begin my thirty-third year of teaching in St. Paul and my ninth year at Chelsea Heights. I am anxious to get to know the students and their families.

The students will be engaged in reading in several ways throughout the day in third grade. The following are examples of reading activities in which the students will be asked to participate:

    • Large group instruction
    • Small group instruction
    • Independent reading
    • Respond to what is read verbally and in writing
    • Learn/practice comprehension strategies

Writer's Workshop will be implemented daily in third grade. The students will write daily in their Writer's Notebooks. Writing projects will include memoir writing, poetry, and research.

Learning new and reinforcing already learned math skills will be done using the Everyday Math curriculum. The curriculum includes daily lessons, opportunities to talk about math strategies, math games, assessment tools and homework pages.

I will be sending a weekly newsletter home each Friday. The newsletter is a great way to stay informed as it will have information about classroom activities and events for the upcoming week. I can be reached by phone at 651-293-8790 and by email at
