Last week Kindergarteners celebrated their 100th Day of Kindergarten. I had the opportunity to stop in and enjoy some dancing with students to several songs featuring choreography and lyrics counting to one hundred. Special thank you to our Kindergarten team for all of their efforts in making the day so meaningful.
This week LMAP launched two of our annual residencies. Our first graders welcomed Julie Kastigar for mask making of various animals and birds selected by students. Our guest artist has selected a Cree story that aligns to the Minnesota animals and birds selected by students. First graders will be sharing their mask creations and stories this week at the lower campus Friday gathering at 3:30pm. Thank you to all parents who have volunteered to support this residency!
Our eighth graders welcome Joko and Tri for our annual Indonesian Arts residency. Students select from Gamelan instrumental music or traditional Indonesian dance. Students will showcase their performances at next week’s gathering on Friday, March 11 at the upper campus gymnasium at 10:30am and 3:00pm.
First graders also led LMAP in joining the national Read Across America Week in honor of Dr. Suess’ birthday. Each day of the week is a different theme. I am so proud of all the entries of books read by our first graders when visiting their reading block.
Lastly, Parent-Teacher Conferences are right around the corner. Conferences will be held on Tuesday, March 15 and Thursday, March 17 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm and then again on Friday, March 18 from 8:00am until 12:00pm. Elementary teachers have communicated times for appointments. Middle school teachers will be meeting with families in an arena style format in the upper campus cafeteria and gymnasium.
We look forward to connecting with you at one of our upcoming events.
