Homework - Devoirs
Homework is a necessary and integral part of the learning process. The benefits of homework include the reinforcement of academic skills, as well as the development of student responsibility, self-discipline, and intellectual independence. As a language immersion school, building new vocabulary in French, as well as learning spelling in English, is an important part of the homework.
A typical night of homework will include studying spelling words in French and English for the weekly spelling test and a math "Home Link" page. Additionally, I ask that students read at least 15 minutes per night. What they read is entirely up to them. The goal is to get students reading, in any language. The more they enjoy what they are reading, the more they will read!
Daily homework is due, and will be checked, on Fridays unless noted otherwise. Of course, students absent due to illness will be given the necessary time to make up missed assignments. Students in second grade should be able to work up to 30 minutes per day. Contact me if your child is consistently spending an excessive amount of time on homework.
