Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Maria Graver
Welcome to the 2018-19 school year! I am looking forward to another year of growth and exploration with the Murray community. Having always enjoyed the rhythm of the school year and the strength of collaborative learning, I know that this year at Murray is going to be an exciting one!
A 1999 graduate of Carleton College, I began teaching in Washington D.C. in 2001. Since then, I have also had the privilege of working with students, families, and teachers in Tucson, Arizona and here in the Twin Cities. Along the way, I earned a Master's degree from Roosevelt University (Chicago), and a Certificate of Critical Literacy from the University of Minnesota. Currently, I am finishing up and Educational Specialist degree at Concordia University here in St. Paul. I found my home in education at an early age, and draw my energy from the school environment.
When I am away from school, I can usually be found reading, hiking, cooking, creating, and laughing. I have two children, Sequoia and Kai, and my husband is named Andy. Sequoia is in 9th grade, and spends much of her time drawing. Kai is in 6th grade, and will read nearly anything he can find. Andy is an artist who works in many media, from clay to gold. We share our home with two cats, two chickens, and a puppy.
I believe that students thrive most when schools and families work together. I will work to ensure that all students and families feel heard and valued here in our school community. A great deal of strength and knowledge comes from recognizing and understanding the myriad perspectives and experiences here in our school. I am so glad that the start of the year is finally here, and I cannot wait to embark on another year of learning with all of you.
