About the Counselor
Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Vanessa Amaya
Hello! My name is Vanessa Amaya and I am the school counselor at Frost Lake Elementary. This is my fifth year in the district but my first year at Frost Lake. I am really excited to be a part of such an amazing learning community.
I graduated from the University of Wisconsin- Madison with a Bachelors degree in Human Development & Family Studies and received my Masters degree in Counseling & Student Personnel Psychology from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. In my free time, I love spending time with my family, traveling, running, reading and dancing.
As the school counselor, I provide services to support the academic success, personal/social well being and career development of all students at our school. I do this through classroom lessons, small groups, and individual student meetings. I use guidelines and frameworks developed by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) to inform the work that I do at Frost Lake. I also work closely with the social workers to make sure that all students are receiving the support that they need to be successful.
I look forward to being a part of the awesome learning that happens every day at Frost Lake!
