Welcome to Paul and Sheila Wellstone Elementary
Our historic sunlit building, named for the late Senator Paul Wellstone and his wife Sheila, offers students and families three computer labs, two large science classrooms and a beautiful library with reading materials in both English and Spanish. Our goal is to educate students to have a deep knowledge of Science (Biosmart), to be proficient in the Spanish and English languages (Dual Language Immersion), to develop a global perspective and gain understanding and appreciation of other cultures. All staff take responsibility for and have a collective focus on student growth and achievement.
An option for Paul & Sheila Wellstone students is a dual immersion program that represents bilingual education at its best. In this model, each child gains confidence as both a first-language model and a second-language learner.
Our BioSMART program offers students and families a beautiful science lab and an interactive discovery room.
Help your student succeed. Parent tips about how to help students prepare for school, attend school regularly, study for exams and promote reading at home are available here. In addition tips are available in Spanish, Hmong and Somali.
At our school, every child is embraced as a unique individual. Teachers work hard to individualize instruction and meet the needs of all students both academically and socially. Thank you for choosing Wellstone.
