Matthew Keefe is in his second year at HPSHS, teaching IB Dance, Beginning and Beginning/Intermediate Dance.
Matthew Keefe has served the dance field in diverse capacities for over twenty years, building a very unique skill set; dancer, teacher, choreographer, administrator, company manager, production stage manager, non-profit consultant, board member, and artistic director. In addition to two decades of professional performing experience, he holds an MFA in Dance from the University of Iowa, a certificate in nonprofit management from Rutgers University’s Center for Continuing Professional Development and a lot of "roll up your sleeves" experience.
In addition to his work at HPSHS, Matthew and his wife founded DanceCo in 2015 -- a professional dance company performing original productions for young audiences and their families. He also teaches at dance studios around the Twin Cities, serves as the Artistic Director of Children's Dance Theater in Rochester, MN and regularly contracts his services as a Stage Manager and Producer, most recently for Arts Midwest.
As a dancer, Matthew performed nationally and internationally, dancing with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Lynda Martha Dance Company, Fort Wayne Ballet, Charleston Ballet Theater, Boston Ballet II, Louisville Ballet, Ohio Ballet, BalletMet Columbus, the move, Minnesota Opera and the James Sewell Ballet, as well as numerous appearances as a guest artist.
A choreographer of more than forty ballets, Matthew’s award-winning works have been produced by professional dance companies, student ensembles, commercial projects, juried showcases and self-produced performances.
Matthew is honored to be at HPSHS sharing the joy and discipline of dance with these amazing students.
