Degrees and Certifications:

Mr. Eric Hayes

Hello students and families and welcome to my webpage! My name is Eric Hayes and I am a special education teacher.  This will be my third year of teaching and I have been at Frost Lake since my student teaching in 2017.  I am so excited to meet you and I can't wait for the school year to begin!

I grew up in Iowa City, IA so I am a big Hawkeye fan! I have a BA in History and Psychology from Cornell College in Mount Vernon, IA, which is where I met my wife.  We lived in Chicago for 5 years until 2017, when I was able to make my dream career change when I was accepted into the Saint Paul Urban Teacher Residency (SUTR) program.  Through this amazing program, I was able to earn my master's degree from the Univsersity of St Thomas, as well as get my teaching lisence as a special education teacher.  I am very grateful to SUTR for giving me the apportunity to follow my dreams and become a special ed teacher in such a wonderful school district.

My wife and I live in Minneapolis with our son Leo, who was just born in March of 2020, our two cats Obi and Marshall, and our dog Wampa.  When I'm not in school, I enjoy relaxing with my family and pets by watching movies and sports (mainly baseball, soccer, and football), playing board games and video games, listening to music, and cooking and trying new restaurants.  I also really love to travel and experience new sights, foods, and cultures.

I am so grateful to have been able to spend all of my time as a teacher at Frost Lake! From my year of student teaching, to the past two years as a first and second grade special ed teacher, I love the students and families that call Frost Lake home.  I am so excited to be starting another year, and although school might not feel like normal, I want you to know that I am here for each of my students and their families and I will support you in every way possible whether through Distance Learning or when we are back in person.

If you need to contact me, feel free to call or text me at 612-440-1201, email me at, or through the Seesaw app.
