Current Strategy Focus
Our focus is access to quality foods that are also culturally familiar. To do this we:
- Have been getting into the community in the form of tabling at events and door knocking. We recently distributed May Day baskets that included information about food-related resources and a seed packet and seed starter soil.
- Are exploring existing resources and compiling information to share with the community, as well as partnering with organizations such as SNAP to reduce barriers to access to high quality and affordable foods.

OEL Seeks a Vista Worker
SPPS OEL seeks a driven individual with community mobilization skills.
Position Title: Early Learning Coalition Connection VISTA
The SPPS Office of Early Learning specifically works to ensure lasting achievement for all early learners. Our Early Learning Coalitions aid in this effort by collaborating with residents and organizations within communities for the benefit of families with young children.
SPPS OEL is working collaboratively with Mayor Carter’s City of Saint Paul VISTA Program—which brings together organizations serving children from birth to three and their families to build “a Saint Paul that works for all of us”—including our youngest residents
The ELC Connection VISTA will assist in increasing resident participation and voice in current ELCs, while also supporting sustainability across all ELCs.
