Nicole Other Medicine
I am Nicole Other Medicine, School Social Worker with the Indian Education Program. I grew up on the Leech Lake Indian Reservation and am a Tribal member.
While growing up I participated in the Indian Education Program and learned from the staff that helped me. After graduating high school I moved to St. Paul and attended Hamline University. I received a BA in Sociology and Criminal Justice. While attending I was a member of the Native American Student Association. I later decided to attend graduate school at the University of Minnesota and earned my Master's Degree in Social Work. I completed my degree in 2008.
My role in the Indian Education Program is to work with the students receiving Special Education services. I advocate for students and check in with them individually and through providing groups, I assist families by connecting to resources and walking through the Special Education process. My goal is to help strengthen the relationship between school, home and community.
If there are any questions please don't hesitate to call or email me. I am happy to help.
