YOUR STORY, OUR STORY: Student Immigration Experiences

  • This exhibition featured original artworks by LEAP High School students, created as part of Your Story, Our Story, a partnership program with the Minneapolis Institute of Art (Mia) and the Tenement Museum in New York City. The national project invited individuals to share their personal stories of American immigration and migration through objects. LEAP students visited MIA to discover the many ways in which objects, including artworks, can tell stories. Guided by teachers Jill Michell and Anne Lowe, the students shared their own stories of immigration through art-making and writing. Their contributions are displayed online and here. The Center for Equity and Culture provided additional objects.
