National Education Association Arts Grant is awarded to LEAP

  • Jill Michell led her LEAP art students in creating relief print pattern designs that reflect the art of their native countries. Geometric or organic shapes and colors commonly used in traditional art were used as inspiration. The student’s individual pattern designs were combined and used as a reference in designing a large pattern in colorful vinyl tile that was inlayed into the floor at LEAP.

Artist, Brian Foster worked with Jill Michell and the LEAP students to install the tile. Brian has worked as a tile artist in the Twin Cities area for many years. He has designed a floor for Hamline University's library inspired by the work of Minnesota author and illustrator Wanda Gag and floors in the Intermedia Arts Building, and Carmichael Lynch Advertising agency in Minneapolis.
